This study illuminates the relationship between the present suffer and the eternal salvation in terms of the theological aesthetics of Vincent van Gogh. This study identifies the art of Gogh with ‘religious symbolism’ that bridges the real with the ideal, and the visible with invisible. Gogh as a religious symbolist describes Jesus Christ as ‘the greatest Artist’ who integrates the present suffer with the eternal salvation. This study also introduces Ary Sheffer’s <Christus Consolator> that offered the significant influence to Gogh’s christology and religious symbolism. Then, this study explores religious symbols such as horse, carriage, bridge, sunflower, and cypress that step a stone between human suffer and God’s grace. Furthermore, this study argues that Gogh’s <Nihgt Caffe> symbolizes God’s invitation towards the salvation for the suffered and the poor in this world. Finally, this study suggests the teaching and learning process that connects the Biblical passages with religious symbols of Gogh. This last part introduces the process to teach the Beatitude in Luck 6:20-22 with symbols of horse, carriage, bridge, and the light of Christ in Matthew 5:13-16 with symbols of sunflower and cypress, and <The Night Caffe> with the parable of the Great Banquet in Luck 14:15-24.

The unification of the Korean peninsula is an urgent demand of the age and a national challenge. So what is required of Christians to prepare for the unification? We must, above all, establish the identity of our theology based on reconciliation and forgiveness in Christ. We must now remain open to the Gospel and take on the role of the Reconciliator, beyond the ideological polarization, immaturity, politics, and favoritism. We should bear in mind the realization of peace by drawing the unification process of the Korean peninsula. This study attempts to bring the perspective of Abraham Kuyper(1837-1920), who argued that“In all areas of human life, Christ, the sovereign of all things, claims his sovereignty,”and his Neo-Calvinism to the issue of unification upon Korean peninsula. The sovereignty of God, especially emphasized by Kuiper, will provide a clue to solve conflicts among the divisions in Korean churches and societies as well as inter-Korean issues. Kuyper acknowledged God's sovereignty and tried to reform the church and society based on the Word of God. Based on the theological theory, he worked as a politician and applied it specifically to the Dutch case. He established a university (Vrije Universiteit) and changed the society by reforming the Dutch church. He showed an example of a life in action through the Christian school. In this regards, Kuyper as an exemplary activist provides a good lesson to Korean churches, schools, and society preparing for unification. This study presents the tasks of Christian unification education which can be specifically applied in the field of church, school, and society. I hope that our values be transformed under God's sovereignty and providence so that the kingdom of God is restored and more people glorify God.

입양어머니의 입양경험과 입양가정을 위한 기독교교육적 함의
조 혜 정 (총신대학교 부교수) email@example.com
In the past five years, there has been a significant decrease in the number of domestic adoptions in Korea. Down 64% from 2011, the number of adoptions reached a record low of 880 adoptions in 2016. This is due to the decreasing natural population in Korea and the difficulty of the legal screening process of parents. Also, due to societal pressures of having a child out of wedlock, single mothers in Korea are averse to reporting births for fear of exposing their identities. Nevertheless, it is encouraging that the number of adopted children by Christian families is much higher than non-believing families. Thus, a more active role by the Korean church and support from Christian education programs is needed for adoptive parents and children. The purpose of this study is to observe the adoption experience of eight adoptive mothers in order to recommend support systems and roles for the church community. Through the extraordinary blessings of adoption, the researchers of this project were able to observe in the families the joy of parenting, forming family cohesion, promoting self-importance and responsibility, and having a positive interpretation of life. On the other hand, there were also negative aspects of the adoption experience. This included fear and anxiety that arose from higher than average age gaps between parents and their children and stress from parenting. They also faced the challenge of publically announcing their adoption in a society with large differences in public perceptions about adoption and adoptive children. In response to these difficulties, Christian education programs can help families overcome prejudices against adoption by advocating the message that adoption is a key aspect of the gospel. Programs can also help parents develop an adoption story for when they decide to tell the child that they were adopted, and by promoting the role of the church community in supporting and nurturing parental efficacy.
Key words: adoptive parents, adoptive family, qualitative case study.
