The one-way ANOVA was used to determine whether there are any significant differences among groups divided by parent age, place of residence, highest educational degree earned, monthly income, number of years as a Christian, official church duties, spirituality level, affiliation (believer or not), number of children, and children's ages. Among sample groups by educational degree, years attending church, church duties, spirituality level, parental spirituality affiliation and children's ages, there were significant differences in parents’ perceptions of Christian parenting, Christian child rearing practices and total scores. Post-hoc comparisons using the Scheffe test indicated more years attending church, officially serving in the church, having a higher level of spirituality, and when both father and mother are Christians, their perceptions, practices and total scores regarding Christian parenting were higher. In addition, there were significant partial relationships among parent-child relationship, parents’ perception regarding Christian rearing and Christian parenting practices. A Exploring of Acceptive Hermeneutics to Behaviorism Theory in the Church Education

교회교육에서 행동주의에 대한 수용적 해석학의 모색

안 영 혁 (총신대학교 조교수) anyh45@gmail.com

Behaviorism is often accepted as a maverick in theology and humanities. Because it has exchanged the human spirit to stimulus-response mechanisms. However hermeneutics is a activity which accepts the advantages of a thought and rejects disadvantages. And the we has done the interpretation because the very thought is useful. And we wish to have the know-how of that. There is no doubt that Skinner as a excellent behaviorist should have pursued human happiness. So he tried to find a intentional and mechanical way to settle the scheme of behavior. In addition, he assumes that traditional spiritual values throughout human history have been hypocritical and oppressive. This assumption can not accept in theology and humanities as a whole. But behavioristic approach is limitedly available related to wounded in heart or children. It’s not speculation. The actual cognition therapy has developed from behavior therapy and today’s cognition-behavior therapy is established on the behavior therapy. And church education specialists are trying to teach through many activities for the educational development. Therefore I try to obtain the theoretical basis which make the teachers lay down the theological-philosophical burden and make the behavior-oriented education activity available. I am going to do that by exploring acceptive hermeneutics to actual efficiency of behaviorism.

Key words: behaviorism, Skinner, utopia, mechanical, cognition-behavior therapy, children education.

Reader-Response Critical Reading of the Millennium in Revelation

요한계시록의 천년왕국: 독자반응비평적 연구

유 은 걸 (호서대학교 조교수) jakob38@yahoo.com

The purpose of this paper is to study the reader-response criticism and to apply the methodology to the text of Millennium in Revelation. In contrast to the historical-critical exegesis, which mainly focuses on the author and his intention, and literary criticism, which tries to analyze the given text as it is, the reader-response criticism shows interest in readers. Although the classic reader-resoponse critics started out from a synchronic perspective, it is now necessary to apply this method to a diachronic reading of text, in order to find its orignial meaning as produced for the primitive Christians (the 1st readers).

The Millennium text in Revelation (Rev 20:1-10), which is notorious for its difficulty in understanding, can be interpreted both through diachronic approach and through synchronic approach: Diachronically, the passage is to be traced the author’s effort to provide their actual readers with consolation, yet in full consciousness of their active role. The Millennium text can also be analyzed with synchronic understanding in our hands, which comes to conclusion that the Satan needs to be set free from abyss, because God will punish him at the very end of time. Reading a text by means of combination of both diachonic and synchronic reader-response criticism, can produce tension, if not a contradiction, but it helps us to understand the text from diverse angles.

Key words: revelation, Millennium, reader-response Criticism, reader, diachronic approach, synchronic approach, Christian education.

Among these factors, ‘climate of devotion’(M=3.06), ‘church support’(M=2.95), ‘effective ministry structure’(M=2.90), and ‘pursuit of excellence’(M=2.86) were necessary to improve for better ministry effectiveness since these factors recorded lower mean scores than the others. Additionally, more concern for women teachers than for men teachers were needed because the former showed the lower effectiveness scores than the latter. Suggestions were made to improve church teachers’ competency and ministry structure since these two factors were significantly related to climate of devotion and cooperation which would strongly influence church school ministry effectiveness. A statistical result strongly indicated that it was also necessary to improve factors of competent teachers, effective ministry structure, climate of spirituality, and effective leadership in order to enhance overall effectiveness of church school ministry climate. Limitations of this study are as follows: First, there exists more than eight effective factors that would improve climate of church school ministry that were used for this study.
