It may seem “new” to contemporary Christian educators that family and parents are a major subject of Christian education, but it has deep roots in the Biblical foundation. And the call for parents to share its faith with their children is deeply embedded in the history of Christian education. The parental role, however, has been overlooked from the Sunday school’s first appearance. Nevertheless, there has been increasing recognition over the last several decades of the importance of family and parental role in Christian education. Thus, this paper investigates a particular aspect of the parental role and role modeling for Christian education to transmit their faith. This rediscovery of the importance of parental role in Christian education indicates that Christian parents (family) as a crucial subject caused Sunday school ministers to influence the education of their children and it has been strong effects on the Christian education negatively: separation, deficiency, and avoiding their responsibility for Christian parenting. In this, this research actually provides socio-cultural studies to support to emphasize the importance of the parental role in forming children’s religious education. On the same page, this article focuses on the both sides of parental roles as subject and object of Christian education and provides examples for strengthening Christian parenting in family worship.

Christian Teacher Identity Formation Process of
Christian Teacher in Public School.

The purpose of this paper is to explore the Christian teacher identity formation process of Christian teacher in public school. That is this paper deals with how to make connection between Christian identity and teacher identity by Christian teacher in public school. The method of this study is the autobiographical methods in qualitative research method. This research collects research data from Jan. 2012 to Feb. 2016 in the story of “good teacher, good meeting” in the magazine of 『Good Teacher』, published by the movement of good teacher. The result of this study would be divided in the period of “before teacher” and “current teacher.” In the period of “before teacher”; Research participants insist the experience of God’s love such as the experience of healing from serious illness is the foundation of Christian teacher identity; Research participants assert the activity of ‘practice of community’ in the college periods makes them develop their belief from abstract belief to concrete belief, and this activity makes them enhance teacher competency of solving real problem in the school environment; Research participants suggest that the influence from ‘their good teachers’ is one of the elements of Christian teacher identity; Research participants explain that the experience of recovering from their ‘heart break’ in their youth period is one of the elements of Christian teacher identity. In the period of “current teacher”, research participants assert the activity of the community of practice, such as learning community, is the most important element which effects Christian teacher identity. They argue that the functions of the community of practice in Christian teacher identity formation. The functions of community of practice are the field of recovering belief, the field of changing from beginner teacher to skilled teacher, the field of practical training of balancing between ideal belief and real world belief, and the field of expanding more detailed and specialized community than previous community, which make research participants develop their Christian teacher identity continuously.

Philosophical foundation of Church’es Whole Person Education and a Task of Adult-education

The church should know clearly about the relationship between the church education and the school education as well as the identity of church education. The goal of the school education is to form a moral man. The goal of the church education is the restoration of the God's Image. This is not to say becoming a religious man instead of becoming a moral one. That’s becoming a religious man together with becoming moral man. Roughly speaking we have found the decisive academic clue of the separation between church education and school education from Spinoza and Kant. Kant saw that it is unable for a religious man to transcend a moral man. Thanks for Kant modern disciplines has flourished freely. But Bonhoeffer contended that the churches’ weakness was due to not overcoming Kant’s formulations. In particular, it was dangerous to adhere to the Kant's view in theology. Bonhoeffer criticized Kant and contemporary German Church. And it’s also opposing the theological liberalism. Thus in modern times Bonhoeffer acquired to Christians the humanity of faith beyond morality. That way the church is different from school education. In the church education the school education is accepted to exist in the limits of reason. But man has religious reality. The Church has to confront this realm by teaching the faith. But we can not acquire to school church education. In other words the church performs Christian whole person education only to church members. That way the church becomes the control tower of whole person education. To do this, the church should conduct hermeneutic training to the Saints, including the parents. This hermeneutic education will make the saints learn more the relation between the church and the society. And all the Christians will obtain the philosophical foundation which provides the way of Christian life.

The Impact of Pastors' Spiritual Leadership on Faithful Maturity and Organizational Commitment

The purpose of this article is to analyze and suggest practically the impact and factors of pastors' spiritual leadership on church members' faithful maturity and organizational commitment. This study had basically collected the materials of survey research from 257 subjects who were baptized members. The collected data were implemented by multiple regression analysis in order to evaluate the influence of pastors' spiritual leadership on church members' faithful maturity and organizational commitment. The results of the data analysis were as follows: First, the result which was related to the impact of the spiritual leadership on organizational commitment articulated that the normal-emotional commitment had affected the presentation of vision and caring, whereas the consistent commitment had influenced on the presentation of vision. Second, the result which was related to the impact of the spiritual leadership on faithful maturity showed that spiritual maturity had affected the presentation of vision and caring, while the behavioral dimension had influenced on the presentation of vision and caring. Third, the result which was related to the impact of the faithful maturity on organizational commitment notified that the normal-emotional commitment had affected spiritual maturity and behavioral dimension, while the consistent commitment had just affected on spiritual maturity. After the data analysis, the researcher had realized that there is a significant relationship between pastors' spiritual leadership and the presentation of vision and caring, and between pastors' spiritual leadership and church members' spiritual maturity and behavioral dimension in order to achieve the goal of church education in the context of the church community. There is also significant relationship between church members' devotional service and spiritual maturity in the context of the church community.

A Study on the Function of Music as Healing

Since ancient times, music has played an essential part in human life. Music has been used as a means of healing since the beginning of mankind. In secular academic circle, music therapy has been investigated and practiced in multiple dimensions. However, in Christian circles, the healing function of music has been neglected. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to emphasize and awaken the importance of music as healing power. A brief historical overview of music therapy, the healing function of music in the Bible, the healing phenomena of music and the principles of healing of music will be discussed. In addition, some practical application of music in Christian education will be suggested.

A Comparative Study of the Psychological Well-being on the Responsive Characteristics of the ‘Mother and Child Drawings’ among Christians and Non-Christians : Focusing on 20-30 Years Old Singles

This study is to find psychological well-being on the responsive characteristics of the mother-and-child drawings among 20-30 years old single Christians and non-Christians and use the drawing as a tool to identify their actions in Christian education institute. Participants were 273 (130 Christians and 143 non-Christians) singles who are 20-30 years old in greater Seoul areas. Instruments used in the study were the mother-and-child drawing test and psychological well-being test. The data were analyzed using a frequency analysis, t-test, χ²-test, one way-ANOVA, and Scheffe-test as post-hoc test. The results of this study are as follows: 1.Christians were more likely to have a higher state of psychological well-being than non-Christians. 2. The responsive characteristics of mother-and-child drawings among Christians and non-Christians demonstrated significant differences in formality, expression, omission of body parts of child figures, and formality, expression, kinds of mother and child figures, body contacts, eye contacts of mother figures.3. Among Christians, the psychological well-being of responsive characteristics of the mother-and-child drawings showed significant differences in size of child figures, and expression, size, body contacts of mother and child figures, size comparison of mother figures. Among non-Christians, significant differences showed in formality, facial expression, size, eye contact of mother and child figures of child figures. This study suggests the mother-and-child drawing can be used as a tool to identify psychological well-being among 20-30 years old single Christians and non-Christians. Also, this study recommends to use the drawing as a fundamental resource to acknowledge Christians' actions and to identify the importance of Christian education by comparing 20-30 years old single Christians and non-Christians.

Religious Imagination for the Holistic Education in Church: Based on Maria Harris’ Theory

The purpose of this paper is to propose a new paradigm leading to the holistic church education triggering change in life and practice as an alternative to the existing church education, which focused on contents and methods so that it may result in preventing from possible changes on human and blocking to practices in their real lives. To achieve this goal the author firstly grasped the characteristics of teaching inherent to Harris’ religious imagination, and consider the definition and role of church school teacher, who provides teaching implication and teaching practices, in order to reconstruct actual church education based on Harris' teaching. In addition the relation between aesthetic experience and God experience was examined closely to deal with process involved in how the aesthetic experience becomes God experience, the topic of which was not explained concretely by Harris. The author also searched the theological insights for how the aesthetic experience becomes God experience, and researched on teaching process inherent in aesthetic experience implying God experience. It was also presented that each single individuals who experienced God has to proceed as a practical mediator recreating the world attended by the spiritual community. As a result the author suggested the holistic paradigm of church education which will help access to God experiences and practices as a possibility applying to church school in practice.

The Creative World View and Practice of Creativity in Early Child Education

With a more Artificial Intelligence times accelerated it is growing more concerned about the human creativity. In the 21st century era it is significant to motivate and foster a creative intellegence within the Christian worldview. This study explores the contents as the follows : 1) the identification of creativity and creative talented person 2) the relationship between Creative world view and Creativity 3) the practice of creative education for early childhood in Christian daily life. In conclusion, for creative education there are 4 steps of pyramid as follows: 1) the first step is to know God as Creator and we are created within the image of God 2) the second step is to establish the atmosphere of acceptance to children' new ideas and expression with warm hearts and wellcoming. 3) the third step is to learn and train with various creative experience 4) the last step is to enjoy creative activities in daily life.

The Bulling Prevention Education Focusing on the Bystanders

This article discusses the main characters and approaches for educational program geared towards preventing school bullying, in particular, focusing on the role of the bystanders. In bulling, the bystanders may assume that they don't play any role because they have not participated neither in bulling nor in defending behaviors. However, in actuality, the attitude of the bystanders is a major factor to drive the bulling situation to the certain direction. Since group dynamic plays a great role in group phenomena such as school bulling, the attitude and implicit rule among the majority function either to prevent or to aggravate it. In bulling prevention education, it is important to awaken the bystanders to feel responsibility and to engage in solving the problem by demonstrating empathetic attitude and prosocial behaviors toward the victims. In order to be the active participants in preventing bulling, the bystanders need to learn the practical way to establish the group norm for non-violence and to facilitate empathetic atmosphere. They also need training programs to increase affective empathy and self-efficacy. In discussion with Brain-based education theory, this study also suggests that the educational process of bulling prevention programs should be wholistic, relational, and formational, promoting cooperation and value/meaning construction.
