Christian Educational Significance of the Unification Education of the Korean Peninsula 

from the Perspective of Feminine Values

여성적 가치의 관점에서 본 평화지향적 통일교육의 기독교교육적 함의

     This thesis is an alternative argument for theory of Korean unification based on economism. Using the perspective of feminine values, the thesis analyzes conditions required for the unification of the Korean Peninsula, and argues that there are three crucial reasons why Christian Education is important for Korean unification. Firstly, the thesis argues that the peace ideal within unification education is fundamentally aligned with the Kingdom of God to which Christian education aspires, and that this peace ideal furthers virtues such as empathy, consideration, care, ministration, and others which are seen as core values of feminism. Secondly, those virtues are not essentially the property of women but are, in fact, universal values. Thirdly, even unification education which takes a macroscopic view can be not only theoretically sound, but can also become a practical unification education for everyday life. Finally, the thesis argues that such educational initiatives can be implemented not only, not only at the state level, but internationally and also regionally.

Development of Smart Phone Applications for Christian Education to Enhance 

Young Children’s Religious Faith

취학 전 유아를 위한 기독교교육용 스마트폰 어플리케이션 개발

     The purpose of the study is to examine the possibilities and the prospects for developing Smart Phone Applications as a medium for enhancing Christian faith of young children. To achieve the purpose of the study, the following process has been done. First, young children’s faith development, definition of applications, and relevant documents have been analyzed. Second, the parents of young children have been interviewed to explore the realities of utilization of the applications of Christian education for young children, inventing these applications is meaningful as Christian education which is to be used naturally in daily life. The conclusions for development of Smart Phone Application for Christian education and applications to enhance children’s Christian faith are as follows. First, home is the first and absolute space for education of children and parents are the ones who should carry out this responsibility. Second, as the interests of parents and implementation of religious value are continued to the interests in developing applications of Christian education for children, inventing these applications is meaningful as a Christian  education which is to be used naturally in the daily life.

A Study on Infants & Parents's Faith Change through Infant Worship 

영아부 예배를 통한 영아와 부모의 신앙 변화

    This study is to explore faith change of the five infant of 1-2 years old and parents who participates in infant worship through ethnographic research. In spite of importance for infant and parent's researches, there's little researches to compare with for young children and adult and to compose of literature research and research study mostly. The result are the following. Infants are able to praise in life, read the bible, pray the Lord, and worship correctly through infant worship. Parents are able to read the bible, pray the Lord, praise in life with son and daughter. And parents are able to make a promise which bring up son and daughter who has faith. And parents are able to appreciate to valuable of worship which family get together, encouraged to bring up son and daughter who have faith.

This study is significant that examine infants and parents's faith change through infant worship, and inquire with qualitative research which understand in view of infants and parents which research observe and participate with infants and parents.

A Study on the Principles of the Teaching-Learning Process in Christian Spirituality Education

기독교 영성교육에 있어서 교수-학습과정의 원리에 대한 고찰

     This study aims at reflecting on and suggesting some essential principles of the teaching-learning process in Christian spirituality education as the principles of planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching methods and learning experiences for spiritual growth. For its purpose, the study identifies Christian spirituality as a basic human nature and its lived experiences. Based on this concept of Christian spirituality, this study also describes some important characteristics of Christian spirituality education as educating for people’s self-identification of being spiritual, holistic development and transformation, integrated life of mystery and everydayness, praxis, and changes and enjoyment in life. After this description, the study suggests six principles of the teaching-learning process in Christian spirituality education as follows. First, the principle of ‘openness’ means that the education needs to help participants expect the presence of God and truth. Second, the principle of ‘sensitivity’ states that the education should encourage Christians to turn their attention to inner and outer voices and movements. Third, the principle of ‘inter-subjectivity’ refers to the organic and reciprocal relationship among people based on mutual respect and self-directedness. Fourth, the principle of ‘wholeness’ implies the interconnectedness of all elements and aspects of human beings. Fifth, the principle of ‘participancy’ means that Christian spirituality education aims at helping participants actualize their spiritualities through learning. Sixth, the principle of ‘communality’ refers to the encouragement of people’s intimacy, mutual trust, safety, accountability and collaboration.

Spiritual Education as a Way to Overcome the Inferiority of the Korean Emerging Adulthood

‘수저계급론’ 논쟁의 중심에 선 한국 청년들의 열등감(inferiority) 극복을 위한 영성교육: 아들러(Alfred Adler) 심리학을 중심으로

     This study explores and analyzes what causes the despair and complex of today’s Korean young adults in the social and psychological perspective. Their developmental tasks such as higher education, graduation in college or university, employment, marriage, and childbirth are intimately relevant to unequal and competitive system of today’s Korean society. Also, this study indicates that young adults tend to follow not the individual value but the general and universal value that the Korean society has pursued in accordance to statistical data. This study suggests the revision of life style(goal) and the recovery of the sense of community of the Korean emerging adulthood on the basis of Adler’s individual psychology which is today popular in Korea. Finally, this study proposes the spiritual education of rehabilitating identity, the sense of community, and subjectivity of Korean young adults.

A Study on method of Educational Ministry of Wesley’s Early Community: Means of Grace

웨슬리 초기공동체의 교육목회 방법 연구: 은총의 수단

     The purpose of this paper is to explore the means of grace as a method of educational ministry during John Wesley’s period.  The means of grace is an important avenue in the works of piety and mercy for establishing faithful people. This paper attempts to review the elements of Methodist movement which are doctrine, spirit, and discipline. It also analyzes the understanding of God’s grace, reexamines the relationship of means of grace and its discipline, and apply it to the framework of educational ministry. Wesley developed the role of the church in terms of holistic mercy community and practiced the means of grace. The community of piety and mercy has a structure of educational ministry that will experience a pattern of holiness and good works. Five main points are outlined when examining the means of grace in his early community movement.  First, what means of grace has in relevance to the structure of educational ministry. Second, the use of means of grace in communal and social discipline in educational context. Third, the use of discipline to combine the doctrine and spirit in order to provide a spiritual experience for the establishment of faithful people. Fourth, the means of grace can be divided into discipline of piety and mercy, which leads to prevenient grace, justification grace, and sanctification grace.  Fifth, Wesley  employs the means of grace as a method of educational ministry in community of holiness and mercy.

Jesus' Discipleship and Modeling of the Discipling

예수의 제자도와 제자교육의 모형화

     The purpose of this paper is to investigate the meaning of Jesus’ true discipleship and his unique way of making disciples and to suggest a new interpretation of true discipleship and a practical version of Jesus’ way of making disciples that is applicable at the church, school and home. The momentous event scheduled for human salvation had been imminent, Jesus commanded his disciples to do exactly what he had done during his three years of ministry. During the short life on earth, countless multitude followed Jesus, among which 12 disciples were chosen as the forefront for maintaining Jesus’ salvific ministry for humankind. It is due to the unique educational system of Christianity that was able to firmly defend its position as  the world's largest religion for over 2000 years and grow to a huge number of believers. And the core of its educational system is the  Jesus’ unique way of discipling and the discipleship. While the theological study of Jesus' discipleship were many, and research in the pedagogical point of view did not make remarkable achievements. The practice of the true discipleship had gradually been distorted according to the changes of the times. This paper is to study intensively meanings of the true discipleship of Jesus and the characteristics of Jesus’ making disciples rediscovered by 21st Century Scholars. Furthermore, it is to design a model for making and teaching disciples and discipleship in order for teachers and parents to apply it to their children, youth and all-aged Jesus’ followers.
